StationTag

Privacy Policy

Last updated August 20, 2026

StationTag is an equipment inventory and inspection tracking tool built for fire departments and similar emergency-services organizations. This page explains what information the app collects, why, and how it's handled.

Information we collect

When you're invited to a department or set one up yourself, we collect:

As you use the app, it stores the equipment records, inspection logs, and department/unit information your organization enters — this is operational data about equipment (asset IDs, categories, inspection results, notes), not personal data about you beyond the fact that your name is attached to the inspections you log.

If your department subscribes to StationTag, we store a subscription status and a reference ID for your department's billing account. We never see or store your payment card details — those are entered directly with our payment processor, Paddle, on a page we don't have access to.

Camera access

The Scan screen requests camera access to read QR codes on equipment tags. Camera video is processed entirely on your device, in real time — it is never recorded, stored, uploaded, or transmitted anywhere. Only the text encoded in a recognized QR tag (an asset ID) is used, to look up that piece of equipment.

How your information is shared

StationTag is multi-tenant: each department's data — its equipment, inspection records, and roster — is isolated from every other department. Nobody outside your department can see it through the app.

We use a small number of service providers to run StationTag, each of which processes data only on our behalf:

Render — hosts the application and its database (all account, equipment, and inspection data).

Resend — delivers invite and password-reset emails (sees the recipient's name/email and the email content only).

Paddle — processes subscription payments for departments that subscribe (sees the admin's name/email and payment details; we never see your payment card details ourselves).

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising. StationTag has no ad network or third-party analytics/tracking SDKs.

Data retention

Your account and department's data are kept for as long as the department remains active. An admin can remove a piece of equipment or a team member at any time from within the app. To request deletion of your account or a department's data entirely, contact us using the address below.

Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text. All traffic between the app and its backend is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Sessions use signed, time-limited tokens; password-reset links expire after one hour and are invalidated the moment a newer one is requested.

Children's privacy

StationTag is a workplace tool for emergency-services personnel and is not directed at, or knowingly used by, children under 13.
